The Sport Pilot Certificate (SPC) can save you money versus a Private Pilot Certificate(PPC) in several ways. Not
only does the Sport Pilot Training reduce the number of required hours, but the aircraft you train in are significantly cheaper
to operate.
The following examples assume a non-Sport aircraft will cost approximately $100 an hour to rent. This is a reasonable
average, and you would pay even more for a late model airplane, equiped with newer avionics. The Light Sport Aircraft (LSA) is
assumed to rent for $50 per hour to operate, which is probably more than you'd actually pay.

And remember, purchasing an airplane is not like a car. Aircraft retain their value, and may even increase in value.
So if you choose to sell your share in the aircraft after training, you will probably recover much of the expense of training.
